Two Pakistani players who were part of the 2021 T20 World Cup once played in the IPL

The mega event of the shortest format is just a few months away. The next T20 World Cup will take place in Australia in October. It will be the defending champions that will be hosting the event. However, every team is preparing for this massive event. Pakistan, who did a decent job in the last T20 World Cup in the UAE, lost the semi-finals to Australia.

But there are a few players that might not be part of this World Cup squad that played in the last event. Notably, Pakistan will start their campaign against arch-rivals India on October 23rd at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. This will be the biggest match of the ICC event because both teams don't play any bilateral series and it is just the multi-nation tournament that they play with each other.

Due to the political issues between both nations, they don't play any series, nor is any Pakistani player allowed to be a part of the world's biggest cricket league, the Indian Premier League. But in the inaugural season of the cash-rich league, a number of Pakistani players played for the franchises. But do you know who those two players are that played in the IPL and as well in the last T20 World Cup? If not, let's check.

1. Shoaib Malik (Delhi Daredevils - Now Delhi Capitals) in 2008

The veteran Pakistan all-rounder, Shoaib Malik, who captained Pakistan in the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007 and also played in the 2021 World Cup, in the first season of the Indian Premier League, he was signed by the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals). He made his IPL debut against the Deccan Chargers. Malik played seven matches for Delhi and scored 52 runs and took two wickets in 2008.

2. Mohammad Hafeez (Kolkata Knight Riders) in 2008

Mohammad Hafeez is another player who played in the last T20 World Cup for Pakistan and has also played in the Indian Premier League as well. Notably, Hafeez has retired from international cricket and will not be part of the upcoming World Cup in Australia. Speaking of his IPL career, he was signed by the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2008. Hafeez made his IPL debut against Royal Challengers Banglore. He played a total of eight matches. He scored 64 runs and picked up two wickets as well.
