"Wouldn't be surprised" - Micheal Vaughan backs England to score 400 runs vs India in 1st ODI

The first ODI match between India and England is underway at Kennington Oval, London. Having won the three-match T20i series 2-1, India will look to make the most of the opportunity and register back-to-back series wins. However, England have strengthened their side with the return of Joe Root, Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow.

The World Champions will look to win the ODI series and maintain their dominance in the ODI format. However, this will be the first ODI series without Eoin Morgan as he has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket ahead of India's tour. England, coming off a white-wash over the Netherlands and scoring tons of runs, are the favorites going into this match.

Former English skipper Micheal Vaughan looked very excited ahead of the first ODI and said that he would not be surprised if England scored 400 runs today. He also predicted that the hosts would have an advantage over India in the first innings.

In a pre-match discussion on Cricbuzz, Vaughan said, "England will be strong, the wicket will be flat. England scored 498 against the Netherlands, which won't be possible against India, but it wouldn't surprise me to see 400 being scored."

Notably, this will be the first time the English team will play with their full-strength team after the 2019 ODI World Cup. The former England captain also commented on England's batting lineup, predicting that it would be completely unpredictable.

He said that Liam Livingstone would be there but didn't know where he would be. Vaughan also pointed out the new fast bowler, Brydon Carse. He said that India needed to watch out for him and said, " He bowls quickly. He has an angle similar to Gleeson so he will play a game or two."
