"He can produce unexpected results"- Former Australian legend on Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Pant has been phenomenal with the way he bats in all the formats. He is a once-in-a-generation player who enjoys taking on the bowlers regardless of the match situation. That is why he is one of those batters who can win the match single-handedly and win the match for his team in any situation.
The 24-year-old was the best batter on the currently completed tour of England. He started the tour with a century at Edgbaston in the fifth and final test and ended the tour with another century in the third and final ODI in a much-needed situation.
Former Australian legendary wicket-keeper batsman, Adam Gilchrist, has lauded the young wicket-keeper and has termed him a "dangerous player" who can change the match from any situation.
Pant scored an unbeaten century in the chase in the third ODI and made 125 not out and helped his team win the series decided to win the three-match ODI series 2-1. In an interaction with Mid-Day, Gilchrist said that he loved watching wicket-keeper batsmen and that, too, a left-hander.
He added that Pant is a very dangerous player and can do wonders on the cricket field. Gilchrist said, "He’s so exciting to watch, that’s a sign of a quality player. Rishabh is aggressive, but while he takes risks, he also believes in his skills to get the job done. And he is doing that more consistently, which is fantastic."
Pant is part of the Indian side for the five-match T20 series against the West Indies. He was given rest from the three-match ODI series earlier. However, it will be another chance for the 24-year-old to carry on his form and make the most of it in the five T20Is.
The first T20 will be played on Friday, July 29th at Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba. India has won the ODI series 3-0 under the captaincy of Shikhar Dhawan. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma is back in the team with Pant and Hardik Pandya.
