Frustrated Ahmed Shehzad indulged in a heated argument with Shahid Afridi on live TV, over his exclusion from the Pakistan team

Ahmed Shehzad has remained outspoken regarding his alleged mistreatment by the officials of Pakistan's cricket. The most recent incident occurred on live TV. The 30-year-old last appeared for Pakistan in a T20I in 2019, while his last ODI innings came in 2017.

Since then, he has been excluded from international cricket for Pakistan and is essentially a neglected prospect when it comes to being selected in the team. Shehzad had mentioned that it was the PCB's partiality against him, and it was nothing to do with his performances, that ended his international career.

Former wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal also supported those statements by disclosing Ahmed was refused entry into a high-performance camp for Pakistani players. Even so, PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja quickly dismissed these remarks, blaming them on the batsman's anguish.

In the most recent instance, Shehzad featured in a talk show on Samaa TV with former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi. Notably, the 30-year-old played the majority of his cricket under the captaincy of Afridi, who also accepted that he had a tonne of confidence in Shehzad.

As per a report in the Hindustan Times, Afridi said that the reason Shehzad became the target was because he used to support him. He further added that he gave him a lot of chances during his captaincy, but when he left the leadership role, the officials thought that the 30-year-old was his favorite, which didn't go well.

The former skipper also stated that he knew that Shehzad was the best opener in the country and was performing well, but later he was targeted. However, to this, the 30-year-old replied that it hurts him after listening to all this.

But the discussion quickly became heated when Afridi wished the cricketer well in his coming years, only for Shehzad to erupt in anger, claiming a lack of options. Afridi said,"I want you to score runs, enjoy your life with your wife and kids. Allah has made life beautiful for you."

Shehzad replied in frustration, "I keep saying that. I want to score runs, but at least don't deny me the platforms where I can score. I will ask you, when sides in PSL want to pick me, who comes in and says no? You tell me, where do I score runs? At my home?"
