"He will be the future world No.1 in T20Is"- Kris Srikkanth urges India to add the star pacer in T20 WC squad

In the last 6–8 months, India have been doing a lot of experimenting in their batting and bowling departments. They kept on doing their rotation policy as per the opponents. That has also benefitted them in terms of finding some great talents for the team in the coming future. One such talent that has impressed everyone with his skills is the left-arm pacer, Arshdeep Singh.

He has certainly caught the attention of many former players and cricket pundits, and he has also done a good job in whatever limited opportunity he has got. Former World Cup winner and ex-chief selector Kris Srikkanth believes the pacer is one of the finds for the team and will rule the world in the coming years.

However, in a discussion on Fan Code ahead of India's third T20I against West Indies, he predicted that Arshdeep will lead the T20I charts in the future and that he should get a chance in the Indian team in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Srikkant said, "He will be the future world no.1 in T20Is. He is simply outstanding. Arshdeep Singh! Make a note of it. He will be in the T20 World Cup team. Come on Chetu, please take his name also."

With the T20I mega event to start in a couple of months' time, the Indian management is trying to find the right pace bowling combinations. And after looking at the performances by Arshdeep, he certainly had a chance to represent the country in the marquee event.

The pacer caught the attention of the selectors in the IPL 2022 season, when he performed really well with his wicket-taking ability and bowled yorkers in death overs. Arshdeep made his debut recently against England in the last T20I series and has picked up 6 wickets in four games at an economy of 6.51.

And the stats suggest that he is the most economical bowler as compared to other Indian bowlers in the last five overs of the match since the last T20 World Cup. The Indian think-tank has experimented with 11 pace bowlers since the last World Cup.

However, Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar are the first-choice pacers in the team for the ICC event. But Arshdeep might find it difficult as for the third seamer, the competition is very tough with the likes of Harshal Patel, Mohammed Shami, Deepak Chahar, Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur.
