Afghan supporters created Chaos in the Stadium after losing to Pakistan in Asia Cup
On Wednesday, Pakistan and Afghanistan produced the best match of the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 at Sharjah Cricket Ground. The match ended with some dramatic scenes, with Paksitan's No. 10 hitting two consecutive sixes to seal the remarkable win for the Men in Green.
The match saw some unreal scenes on the ground between the players of the two teams engaging with each other, which increased the tensions of the fans as well. Afghanistan's loss didn't go well with their fans at the stadium, which resulted in some ugly situations in the crowd.
Following their last-over loss to Pakistan in an Asia Cup Super 4 match on Wednesday that eliminated them from the tournament, irate and disappointed Afghan cricket fans damaged the stadium, threw chairs at the Pakistan fans, and engaged in sporadic fistfights outside the stadium grounds.
Pakistan won the toss and chose to bowl first. The Pakistani bowling attack did a really good job of restricting Afghanistan to 129/6 in their 20 overs, which was a below-average total at Sharjah. Pakistan looked set to chase down the total and were batting well until the final few overs.
The Men in Green lost the momentum and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. They lost their last six wickets for 31 runs. However, the actual drama happened in the 19th over of the innings, when Asif Ali was involved in a heated exchange with Afghanistan fast bowler Fareed Ahmed.
However, all the players and umpires came in between to control the situation, but then when Naseem Shah hit two consecutive sixes in the 20th over by Fazalhaq Farooqi, he was seen doing some animated celebration. That didn't go well with the Afghan fans, and it created the chaos in the stadium.
If that wasn't enough, some other widely circulated videos claimed to show fights between supporters of the two teams outside the stadium on the busy roads next to Sharjah Cricket Ground.
