"Some people retire only once"- Amit Mishra's epic reply to Shahid Afridi for his remark on Virat's retirement

The former Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, made his rocking comeback to form in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2022. He ended up scoring the second highest run in the tournament with some incredible numbers. Virat scored 276 runs in five innings at an average of 92 and a strike rate of 147.59.

He also scored two half-centuries and the much-awaited 71st international ton in the last game against Afghanistan. His numbers suggest that he is coming back to his form, which can prove to be a boost in confidence for India heading into the T20 World Cup.

However, the former Paksitan skipper, Shahid Afridi, made a surprising remark about the 33-year-old. On Tuesday, Afridi suggested Virat go for a retirement on a high note and not wait for that moment when the team starts ignoring him.

Well, this statement gathered mixed reactions from many fans. And now, just one day after this statement, India's former leg-spinner, Amit Mishra, has come up with an epic response to this.

Notably, the former Pakistan skipper said during an interview with Samaa TV that the way Virat made his name through struggles is commendable, but there comes a stage when you think about retiring. He added, "Virat is a champion and I believe there comes a stage when you are headed towards retirement. It shouldn't reach a stage where you are dropped from the team."

This statement went viral on social media. The former leg-spinner took to the Twitter and tweeted, "Dear Afridi, some people retire only once so please spare Virat Kohli from all this."

Before the Asia Cup, the former Indian skipper was going through a lean patch and also struggled to score runs across all three formats. His numbers in the IPL 2023 were also below standard. Thus, many started to believe that he doesn't deserve a place in India's T20I squad.

But his performance in the Asia Cup has certainly shut down many critics. He is in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup and it will be a big responsibility for him to take India to glory.
