"I dismissed ABD, but still MS Dhoni scolded me"- Ex-CSK pacer makes shocking accusation
Ab de Villiers was arguably the best batsman that the game has seen when it comes to playing all around the wicket. His numbers also suggest the same, how good he was in his playing days. That is why his wicket was always precious to the opposition team in any format of the game.
Because everyone knows what he can do if he gets set in the crease. However, a CSK bowler has made a shocking revelation. He said that CSK skipper MS Dhoni scolded him even after taking the wicket of AB de Villiers.
It was the 37th match of the 2015 season between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Batting first, CSK made 148/9 in their 20 overs. In response, RCB looked good and De Villiers was batting at 21 runs off 13 balls, including five boundaries.
Getting the wicket of the former South African skipper looked like a big deal, but CSK needed that wicket in order to change the match scenario. Eventually, it was pacer Ishwar Pandey who provided CSK with that important breakthrough, but MSD wasn't pleased with that.
Remembering the game, Pandey stated that despite getting de Villiers out before the legendary South African batsman could cause any more harm, Dhoni was not too satisfied with how the pacer had removed ABD.
In a discussion with Dainik Bhaskar, the pacer said that in that game, when he came out to bowl, MSD told him to not bowl a yorker to ABD. He added that he beat the batter on the first four balls of the over but got hit on the fifth ball for a boundary. Pandey stated that on the last delivery he thought to bowl a yorker.
He said, "I bowled a yorker but it became a low full toss. De Villiers got out on the same ball. After getting the wicket, Dhoni came to me and scolded me. Although he wasn't serious, Dhoni said 'I told you not to bowl the yorker'. Then later, patting his back, he said - Never mind, aagey se dhyaan rakhna."
Pandey played 18 IPL games in his career and took 25 wickets during 2013 and 2014. On Monday, he announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. Notably, he couldn't make his debut for India, despite having a good domestic performance. Although he was chosen for the Indian test squad against New Zealand, he didn't make it to the team and only played in the tour games.
