England opener Alex Hales picks four semi-finalists for 2022 T20 WC; picks England and Australia on top

The 2022 WT20 is around the corner and will start on October 16 with a total of 16 teams trying to get their hands on the World Championship. Australia, who won the last T20 World Cup, will look to defend their title in front of their home crowd.

All the teams have made sure that they will field their best possible squad for the mega event. But still, it is very hard to choose a team that can lift the title. Being the hosts, Australia does have the advantage, but the likes of India, England, South Africa, and Pakistan are also playing some serious cricket.

Well, the predictions have started, and many former cricketers and cricket pundits have shared their views on the top four teams for the upcoming tournament. New Zealand ended the last season as runners-up, while England and Pakistan were the two semi-finalists.

England's opening batsman, Alex Hales, has also shared his thoughts and picked four teams that will play in the semi-finals of the upcoming T20 World Cup. Hales has named India, Australia, England, and Pakistan as his top four teams for the WT20 in Australia.

Notably, England are currently in Pakistan for a seven-match T20I series. England won the first T20I on Sunday by six wickets, and Hales made his return to the national side after almost three years and made a strong comeback.

He scored 53 off 40 balls to help England chase down the target and win the first match. With this win, England has taken a 1-0 lead in the series. On Thursday, the Pakistan Cricket Board shared a video on Twitter featuring Alex Hales, in which he was seen answering some questions.

When asked about his views on semi-finalists for the upcoming ICC event, he picked England, India, Australia and Pakistan. Hales also named Babar Azam as his ideal opening partner from the Pakistan team. India and Pakistan are placed in Group 2, along with Bangladesh, South Africa, and two more qualifying teams.

On the other hand, England and Australia are in Group 1 with New Zealand, Afghanistan and two other qualifying teams. The final of the T20 World Cup will be played on November 13 at the MCG.
