2 leagues which offer more money than T20 World Cup to the winning team

The T20 World Cup 2022 will start on October 16 in Australia with a total of 16 teams. Eight teams will compete in the first round of the tournament to qualify for the remaining four spots in the "Super 12". Australia, who won the last T20 World Cup in the UAE, will defend their title at home.

The introduction of the T20 format has totally changed the dynamics of the game. That is why we are seeing so many T20 leagues being played across the globe. Some of the biggest T20 leagues in the world right now are IPL, BBL, and PSL.

It is because of the level of competition in these leagues and the extra money that is also involved. So what do you think that can any T20 league overtake the competition like T20 World Cup? If not, we will tell you some interesting facts.

Australia won the last edition of T20 WC in UAE and as a winner they got the cash prize of INR 11.9 crore (2.2 million Australian dollars) and New Zealand, who ended as a runners-up won INR 5.8 crore (1.1 million Australian dollars). But there are two T20 leagues that offer more money to winning teams than the T20 World Cup.

2. Champions League Twenty T20 (CLT20)

The Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20), which came into recognition in 2008, hosted its inaugural season in October 2009. The top 12 T20 teams from the best T20 leagues across the world (IPL, BBL, and other leagues) took part in it. CLT20 had six seasons overall, with the last season being played in 2014.

Chennai Super Kings (IPL) and Mumbai Indians (IPL) won two seasons each, while New South Wales Blues (Sheffield Shield) and Sydney Sixers (BBL) won it once in 2009 and 2012, respectively. The last edition in 2014 was won by CSK, and the winning amount which was given to them was USD 2.5 million (INR 19.9 crore).

The runners-up team got a cash prize of USD 1.3 million (INR 10.3 crore), which is almost the same as the prize won by Australia for winning the T20 World Cup 2022.

1. Indian Premier League (IPL)

It will not be a wrong statement to say that the Indian Premier League was one of its kind at the time of its inception. The IPL has certainly changed many things in the cricket world and it's after it that so many leagues have come into existence. Without a doubt, the IPL is the most lucrative league in cricket and is among the top sports leagues in the world.

Thus, the money in this league is uncomparable. So far, 15 successful seasons have been played for this tournament. It was the Gujarat Titans that won the last edition in 2022, beating Rajasthan Royals in the final. After winning the championship, Gujarat won the cash prize of INR 20 crore (USD 2.5 million), while Rajasthan got INR 13 crore (USD 1.6 million).
