Chris Gayle names 2 teams to play T20 WC final in Australia, leaves out India and Pakistan

The 8th edition of the T20 World Cup is just one week away and will start on Sunday (October 16) with the first match between Sri Lanka and Namibia at Simonds Stadium, Geelong. All teams are into their final assignments and gearing up for the upcoming mega event.

Australia, who won the last edition, will defend their title at home and will look to make it two out of two. The upcoming edition will be played in two rounds. The first round will see eight teams playing to qualify for the next round.

On the other hand, the likes of Australia, India, England, Pakistan, South Africa, New Zealand, and Bangladesh have already qualified for the "Super 12", while four teams from the first round will advance to the "Super 12" stage.

The first round will have teams like West Indies, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, and Ireland, who will have the right to advance to the next round. And with not much time left in the first match of the tournament, many have started to predict the top teams who are likely to lift the trophy.

Looking at the history of the tournament, West Indies is the only team, who has won the competition twice in 2012 and 2016, but they will play the qualifying round this time. On the other hand, veteran West Indies opener Chris Gayle, who was part of both T20 World Cup wins, has also named two sides who are likely to play in the final.

Gayle has picked two teams that will meet in the final of the tournament. In an interaction with Dainik Jagran, Gayle said that Australia and West Indies might play in the finals in the upcoming edition.

He said, "I think there could be a final match between West Indies and Australia. It will be very difficult for the West Indies team as the captain of the team is new, but the team is talented and can prove to be dangerous."

The West Indies will be without their star players like Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, DJ Bravo, and Gayle himself. But you never know with the Caribbean team. On their day, they can surprise any team. That is why they are two-time champions in this format.
