Prithvi Shaw made a big statement with his maiden T20 century (134 off 61) in Syed Mustaq Ali 2022
The Syed Mustaq Ali Trophy 2022 is ongoing in India, with all the big names from the domestic season in action. This tournament is featuring matches on a daily basis, which is giving the fans many incredible performances to watch.
This tournament helps the selectors and the IPL franchises to find out the names that are performing well in T20s. However, one name that has performed consistently in the domestic season, irrespective of the format, is Mumbai opener Prithvi Shaw. The 22-year-old is also leading Mumbai in the ongoing SMAT 2022 in the absence of Ajinkya Rahane.
Having won the first two matches against Mizoram and Madhya Pradesh on Friday, Mumbai took on Assam at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot. And Shaw has carried on his dream form with an incredible century against Assam.
Batting first, Mumbai made a huge total of 230/3 in their 20 overs, courtesy of a 46-ball century from the bat of skipper Prithvi Shaw. He went on to demolish the Assam bowling lineup and ended up scoring 134 off just 61 balls, with 13 fours and nine sixes.
This is the maiden T20 century of his career so far. Apart from the century, he had scored 18 half-centuries, including 99 as his highest score. With this knock, he has certainly announced himself in front of the Indian selectors for a call back to the Indian team.
Earlier, in the second match against Mizoram, he scored a quick fifty and made an unbeaten 55* off 34 balls with 9 fours and one six to help Mumbai chase down 103/1 in just 10.3 overs. He appears to be in great rhythm and will look to maintain his form.
Shaw is currently the highest run-getter in the tournament. In three outings, he has played three knocks of 55* off 34 against Mizoram, 29 off 12 against Madhya Pradesh and 134 off 61 against Assam. So far, he has scored 218 runs in three innings at an average of 109.
