India to travel Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023; BCCI open to sending Team India: Reports

The recently concluded Asia Cup 2022, which was supposed to be played in Sri Lanka, was shifted to the UAE due to some economic crisis in Sri Lanka. In the end, it was the official hosts that won the tournament by beating Pakistan in the finals.

But as we all know, the next edition of the Asia Cup is scheduled to be played in Pakistan, which raises a big question in everyone's mind is whether the Indian team will go to Pakistan to play in the competition because the relations between the two nations are not that good.

India and Pakistan don't play any bilateral series with each other anymore. The last bilateral series between these two teams was played way back in the 2012-13 season. But the Asia Cup 2023, which will be played in the 50-over format, will be hosted by Pakistan.

So it will be an interesting question for everyone whether the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will allow the team to travel to Pakistan to feature in the tournament. However, as per some media reports, it is learnt that the Indian board is open to sending the team to play in the tournament.

However, the final take on this decision will be made after the government's green signal only. The Indian board has forwarded a request letter to all the stats cricket boards prior to the upcoming Annual General Meeting, which indicates that India playing in Pakistan could be possible next year.

The Annual General Meeting will be held on October 18. Pakistan last toured India in 2012-23 to play a three-match T20I and ODI series. As these two teams do not often play with each other in bilateral series, they only play in multinational tournaments like the Asia Cup and ICC events.

India toured Pakistan last time in 2005–06, when Rahul Dravid was the captain of the team. Both teams played three Tests and five ODIs on that tour.
