Want to focus on two things"- New BCCI President Roger Binny opens up after taking over the duties

On Tuesday, the 91st Annual General Meeting was held in Mumbai, and after the conclusion of the meeting, it was officially confirmed that former Indian cricketer Roger Binny will be the new president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India.

Binny spoke with the media on Tuesday and revealed his goal as BCCI president. He said that the board will work in favour of reducing the injury-related cases that are happening in Indian cricket. He also highlighted a few injuries to some senior players who have missed the T20 World Cup.

Binny pointed out the injuries to all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and pacer Jasprit Bumrah. Both have been ruled out of the ongoing T20 World Cup, which has certainly hit the chances of the Indian team in the tournament.

He also said that he was unanimously chosen as the BCCI head. India will take part in the T20 World Cup without Jadeja and Bumrah. While Jadeja suffered a knee injury during the Asia Cup, Bumrah was having back issues, which kept him out of the tournament.

On the other hand, Deepak Chahar, who made his comeback in the recent home series against South Africa, was also ruled out due to a back issue. Thus, India picked Mohammed Shami as Bumrah's replacement, while Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur went to Australia's backup options for the team.

Binny said, "We will look to improve on what we can do to reduce the injuries to players. Players getting frequently injured is a concern, and we wish to get to the bottom of it all and see how it can be changed for the better."

In a recent report by the BCCI CEO, Hemand Amin, it was learnt that a total of 70 cricketers, including 23 players from the senior team, visited the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru due to respective injuries in the last 2021-22 season so far. As per the report from PTI, only Virat Kohli was the notable absentee from the list.

Binny concluded that NCA has the best medical arrangements, including excellent doctors and trainers, but that the board will look to reduce such injury cases. He also added that he also wants to improve the pitches in India and make them more lively so that the players can adjust to the conditions when they play in SENA countries.
