PCB looking for urgent ACC meeting over India's refusal to travel to Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023 - Reports

On Tuesday, BCCI secretary Jay Shah made the shocking announcement that the Indian team would not travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023 next year. Notably, Pakistan is scheduled to host the next edition of the Asia Cup.

That comes with a question of whether India will also travel to Pakistan to take part in the competition. Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said that they are open to sending the Indian team to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023.

However, on Tuesday, the 91st Annual General Meeting was held in Mumbai, and after the conclusion of the AGM, it was decided that Team India would not travel to Pakistan to take part in the upcoming edition of the Asia Cup.

According to Cricbuzz, Jay Shah confirmed the reports and also stated that they will request the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) to move the tournament to a neutral location. He said, "Neutral venue for Asia Cup is not unprecedented and we have decided that we will not travel to Pakistan."

Notably, Jay Shah is also the head of the Asian Cricket Council and this decision has left the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in disarray. Thus, the PCB has now requested an urgent meeting of the ACC over the decision made by the BCCI to not send India to Pakistan.

Some sources confirmed that the PCB has already written a letter to the Asian Cricket Council in order to request the arrangement of an urgent meeting after the statement of Shah.

Sources also confirmed that PCB was considering leaving the ACC and not competing in the upcoming 2023 ODI World Cup in India next year.

It needs to be taken into consideration that India hasn't toured Pakistan since 2006 and hasn't taken part in any kind of bilateral series since 2013. It is only at the ICC events and multinational tournaments that both teams often play with each other.
