Ugly scenes: Shan Masood rushed to hospital after being hit on head by a shot from Mohammad Nawaz at nets

India and Pakistan are all set to meet in the mega clash of the T20 World Cup on Sunday (October 16) at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Both teams arrived in Melbourne for the upcoming clash. However, just ahead of the match, Pakistan suffered a major setback and there was a major injury scare.

Star batter Shan Masood was hit on his neck by a shot by all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz during the practise session on Friday. The left-hander was rushed to a hospital in Melbourne. As per some reports, the incident took place on Friday morning when the Pakistan team were doing their net session.

Nawaz, who was doing his batting practise, hit a ball which directly ended up hitting Masood on his left side of the neck. The 33-year-old collapsed immediately on the ground, and the entire team rushed to his aid.

However, after 5-8 minutes, he stood up, put his hand on his head and left the training ground. He was taken to the hospital for scans. Still, there is no official statement from the Pakistan management related to any injury.

Masood came into the Pakistani team after an injury to Fakhar Zaman. So far, he has played 12 T20 internationals and scored 220 runs at a strike rate of 125.00, including two half-centuries. This will be a big worry for Pakistan as they are already having some issues with their middle-order batting.

Pakistan is placed in Group 2 of the "super 12" stage along with India, South Africa, Bangladesh, Netherlands, and the second qualifying team from Group B of the first round. The IND-PAK match will be another high-voltage clash between the two countries.

All the tickets have been sold out for the game, and more than 1,00,000 spectators are expected during the game. Whoever wins the match will take a step closer to a spot in the semi-final.
