The "Super" stage of the ongoing T20 World Cup will begin on Saturday. The first round of the competition has already seen three teams qualify for the next round. However, the biggest match of the tournament will take place on Sunday when India takes on archrivals Pakistan at the MCG.

All the teams look strong and have their best set of players. So the question is, which teams will make it to the tournament's finals this time? Another question is who will be the tournament's "Player of the Tournament."

Many of the best players who will feature in this tournament will look to dominate it. However, former England skipper Kevin Pietersen has named one player who will end up scoring the most runs in this tournament.

He has also said that he is currently the No. 1 batter in T20 internationals at the moment. Pietersen has showered huge praise on India's swashbuckling opener KL Rahul and said that he is the best batter in the shorter format at the moment. Rahul, who looked a bit rusty in the Asia Cup 2022, regained his form in the homeseries against Australia and South Africa.

He ended the Asia Cup with a quick 62-run knock against Afghanistan and then went on to score three half-centuries in five games at home ahead of the T20 World Cup. However, he also scored a half-century in two warm-up games that he played against Western Australia and Australia.

Piertersen reckons that the Indian opener will end up as the highest run-scorer in the tournament. In a column written by Pietersen for betway.com, he has named Rahul as the player to watch out for in the ICC event in Australia.

He wrote, "I love him. I think he is the No. 1 batter in the world at the moment. He is absolutely fantastic. With the ball bouncing, swinging and seaming, I think he plays in a very authentic way and is correct enough to rack up the runs."

India will be highly dependent on their batting department as they are struggling a bit with their bowling line-up. Thus, the role of Rahul will be very important for the team at the top of the order. The right-hander was India's highest run-scorer in the last edition in the UAE with three consecutive half-centuries.
