The Board of Control for Cricket in India has certainly done some incredible work in the last few years or so. On Thursday, the Indian board came up with another major step for the betterment of women's cricket in India.

Earlier, the BCCI announced the inaugural season of the Women's IPL, set to take place in 2023, so that Indian talent can compete against some of the world's best players. And now the BCCI secretary has made a historic announcement of equal pay for men's and women's cricketers in India.

Shah took to Twitter and tweeted, "Iโ€™m pleased to announce BCCIโ€™s first step towards tackling discrimination. We are implementing pay equity policy for our contracted Women cricketers. The match fee for both Men and Women Cricketers will be same as we move into a new era of gender equality in Cricket."

As per the announcement, the women's cricketers will get an equal match fee as the men's cricketers. For Test (INR 15 Lakhs), ODI (INR 6 lakhs), T20I (INR 3 lakhs). Shah further said that the pay equity was the commitment of the board and he wanted to thank the governing council for this move.

This came as a sweet surprise for the cricketing world in India and its fans. The cricket lovers were delighted as soon as the announcement was made and expressed their happiness on Twitter. Fans also praised the BCCI for this history-making move.
