"Best Things in last 25 years"- Twitter reacts to BCCI's decision to equal pay for men's and women's cricketers
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has certainly done some incredible work in the last few years or so. On Thursday, the Indian board came up with another major step for the betterment of women's cricket in India.
Earlier, the BCCI announced the inaugural season of the Women's IPL, set to take place in 2023, so that Indian talent can compete against some of the world's best players. And now the BCCI secretary has made a historic announcement of equal pay for men's and women's cricketers in India.
Shah took to Twitter and tweeted, "Iโm pleased to announce BCCIโs first step towards tackling discrimination. We are implementing pay equity policy for our contracted Women cricketers. The match fee for both Men and Women Cricketers will be same as we move into a new era of gender equality in Cricket."
The @BCCIWomen cricketers will be paid the same match fee as their male counterparts. Test (INR 15 lakhs), ODI (INR 6 lakhs), T20I (INR 3 lakhs). Pay equity was my commitment to our women cricketers and I thank the Apex Council for their support. Jai Hind ๐ฎ๐ณ

Major part of revenue comes from men's cricket, then why shall women and men be paid equal?

Well Done! Doesnโt matter whether they generate the same revenue as Menโs cricket. Getting women pay parity is a move in right direction!
