Virat Kohli scripts amazing world record to become the most successful batter in history

He was dismissed after scoring 2 runs off 8 balls, which brought the former Indian skipper Virat Kohli to the crease. Virat, who already hit two brilliant half centuries in the first two games of the tournament against Pakistan and the Netherlands, made only 12 runs against South Africa.
However, against Bangladesh, he scored his third fifty of the tournament. Notably, prior to this game, he needed 16 runs to surpass former Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardene's tally of 1016 runs in T20 World Cup history.
But now, Virat has become the leading run-scorer in the history of the T20 World Cup. As compared to Jayawardene, the former Indian skipper took only 23 innings. On the other hand, Jayawardene took 31 innings to score 1016 runs.
Speaking of records, Virat is the only player in tournament history to win two "Player of the Tournament" awards in the 2014 and 2016 editions, respectively. He has also won six "Man of the Match" awards in this tournament, which is also the most in its history.

The former Indian skipper is also the leading run-scorer in the ongoing tournament. He has scored 207 runs in four innings at an incredible average of 207 and a strike rate of 139.86, including three half-centuries.
Virat also holds the record for scoring most runs in one single edition that he made in 2014. He scored 319 runs, while in 2016, he ended up scoring 273 runs and helped India reach the semi-finals. Speaking of the match, batting first, India made 184/6 in their first innings.
Virat scored an unbeaten 64* off 44 balls, with 8 fours and one six, while KL Rahul made 50 off 32 balls. Suryakumar Yadav also batted well for his 15-ball 30. India needs to win this game to stay in the race for the semi-finals.
