Virat Kohli goes past Sachin Tendulkar to became the most successful Indian batter

It was just a couple of months ago when many were questioning the form and place of the former Indian skipper Virat Kohli in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2022. But here he is: Virat Kohli is the second-highest run scorer in the ongoing tournament.

He has scored the most runs for India in the competition and has already scored three unbeaten half centuries in the four innings he has played. Virat carried on his form in the game on Wednesday against Bangladesh at the Adelaide Oval.

He scored an unbeaten 64* off 44 balls, with 8 fours and one six, and helped India reach a competitive total of 184/6 in their 20 overs. Virat also added a vital 67-run partnership for the second wicket with KL Rahul (50 off 32).

That stand helped India come out of the tricky situation. With this knock, Kohli also went past the legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar. He broke his record for most runs scored by an Indian in Australia.

Sachin had 3300 runs in 84 innings in Australia at an average of 42.85. Now Virat has scored 3301 runs in just 68 innings at a staggering average of 55.94 on Australian soil. On the other hand, during his innings, the 33-year-old also broke the record for former Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardene (1016).

Now, Virat is the leading run-scorer in the history of the T20 World Cup. He has now scored 1065 runs in 23 innings at an average of 88.75 and a strike rate of 132.46.

Speaking of the game, Bangladesh started well with a 68-run partnership for the first wicket. The rain stopped play, and the game was resumed with a revised target of 151 runs in 16 overs.

In the end, the Indian bowlers did well and restricted the Bangladesh batting lineup to 145/6 in 16 overs, winning the game by five runs. For India, Arshdeep Singh (2/38) and Hardik Pandya (2/28) picked up two wickets each. With this win, India has moved to the top of the table with 6 points.
