India suffered huge injury scare ahead of semi-final. Virat Kohli got hit on his thumb during batting practise

The knockout stage of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia has started with a game between Pakistan and New Zealand at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The second semi-final will have India playing England on Thursday at the Adelaide Oval.

The Men in Blue reached Adelaide on Monday, November 7 and began their practice the next day. However, it doesn't seem that it is going well for India for their practise. On Wednesday, some media reports confirmed that the Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, was hit with a ball on his right arm, during facing throwdowns.

The captain was seen sitting in pain. But later, it was confirmed that Rohit came back to the practice after 40 minutes. But on Wednesday, there was another huge injury scare for the Men in Blue, and this time it was the leading run scorer of the tournament, Virat Kohli.

During batting practice, Virat was hit on the thumb by a ball hit by Harshal Patel. The former Indian captain was seen in real pain, and he also left the practice in between, which didn't come well for the Indian fans.

It came as a big blow for many because Virat is currently in the form of his life and is one of the main reasons that India has reached to the knockout stage. He has scored the most runs in the tournament with 265 runs in five innings at an incredible average of 132.5.

Virat has also scored three unbeaten half-centuries. Thus, an injury to him could be a fortune-turning moment for the Men in Blue, who are looking to win their first ICC event since 2013. But the good news is that the former skipper looked fine and returned to practice after a short break.

His injury news came as a huge heartbreak for the Indian fans because Virat's numbers at the Adealide Oval are just unbelievable. He has scored 937 runs in 10 games played at this venue across three formats. Virat has also scored five centuries in Tests and ODIs.

He has registered scores of 90 and 64 in the two T20Is he has played here. And India is scheduled to play the semi-final at the same venue, so Virat's presence will be much-needed for them.
