Revealed: Check out the Date and Venue for the upcoming IPL Auction
The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League was one of the best seasons that fans have ever watched. Two new teams made their IPL debuts to make it a 10-team tournament. And it was the new franchise Gujarat Titans who won the tournament, becoming only the second team to win the title in their maiden season.
The 2022 edition featured more teams, more games, and more entertainment, elevating the IPL to a new level in the game's history. However, the IPL's governing committee has said that the next edition will be more grand.
That has certainly taken the fans' excitement to another level. As per some reports, it was learned that there will be a mini-auction that will be held in December for the upcoming season. And now, as per the reports by ESPN Cricinfo, the mini-auction is all set to take place on December 23.
Furthermore, it has also been learned that the auction will be held in Kochi. However, it will not be as severe as what occurred prior to the TATA IPL 2022, but a number of players will be targeted. The trade window will be available to all ten teams, allowing them to exchange players with another team.
The upcoming auction will have a new rule, which is that every franchise will get an additional INR 5 crore to spend on players. The previous purse value was Rs 90 crore, which has been increased to Rs 95 crore.
Notably, the last date to submit the list of retained players is November 15, and all ten teams are working hard to finalize the players they want to keep. After the last editions, Punjab Kings (Rs 3.45 crore), Chennai Super Kings (Rs 2.95 crore), and Royal Challengers Bangalore (Rs 1.55 crore), were left with the most purse value.
The mega auction in 2022 saw a total of 204 players get sold out to ten teams. That includes 107 capped cricketers, while 97 were uncapped players. During the auction, a total of Rs 551.7 crore was spent.
