This team will be the T20 WC champion if rain washes out the final match on both days
The all-important final of the T20 World Cup 2022 is scheduled to take place on Sunday, November 13, at the Melbourne Cricket Stadium. And it will be Pakistan that will lock horns with England in the much-awaited clash to decide which team will become the World T20 champions.
Both teams had a poor start to the competition, but they have picked up their performances really well in the next half of the tournament and are there in the final. But clouds of uncertainty are looming over the mega-clash on Sunday.
As per the latest weather predictions, it has been learned that the rain can play spoilsport during the final of the tournament. This World Cup has already seen some rain-affected games, while some games ended without a ball being bowled.
And as per the report by ESPN Cricinfo, the Bureau of Meteorology has confirmed that the forecast suggests that the chances of rain at the scheduled time are 95%, which could come out as a major disappointment to many fans. Although it is a knockout match, there is also a reserve day.
If the rain washes out the entire day on Sunday, the play will resume on Monday from the point where it stopped on the last day. But the bad news is that the forecast is the same on Monday as well. According to the Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology, rain is predicted for 95% of both days and will fall between 5 and 10 mm.
However, according to the rule, at least 10-over per side is required to get the result of the game. But if both days get washed out, what will happen then? Which team will end up winning the trophy?
Thus, in case the rain washes out the game on both days, the ICC will announce both teams as joint winners. It has already happened once, in the 2002 Champions Trophy, when Sri Lanka and India were announced as joint winners because there was no game on both days.
