"Our position is blunt, will adopt an aggressive approach"- PCB Chairman Ramiz Raza on travelling to India for 2023 ODI WC

A few weeks ago, a statement from the chairman of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Jay Shah, took the world by storm when he said that Team India might not travel to Pakistan for the next edition of the Asia Cup, which is scheduled to be played in Pakistan.

That statement created havoc, particularly on the order side of the border. The Pakistan Cricket Board has again reacted to that, and now PCB chief Ramiz Raza has said that they are not looking to travel to India either for the 2023 ODI World Cup.

Notably, next year, two big events will take place in white-ball cricket. The Asia Cup will take place in Pakistan, and then the 2023 ODI World Cup will take place in India between October and November.

In a discussion with Urdu News, Ramiz said that the PCB's decision is firm and that if India will not come to Pakistan, they are not willing to travel to India. He also said that without Pakistan, no one will watch the World Cup.

Ramiz said, "Our position is blunt that if they (Indian team) come then we will go to the World Cup, if they don't come then let them do it. Let them play without Pakistan. If Pakistan does not participate in the World Cup scheduled in India next year, who will see it?"

He also added that Pakistan has beaten India twice (2021 T20 World Cup and 2022 Asia Cup) in one year, which means they have defeated the million-dollar team, and we have to improve Pakistan cricket's economy with time and need to take firm steps.

The last time Pakistan hosted a multi-national tournament was the Asia Cup in 2009. However, following the 2009 terrorist attack on the visiting Sri Lankan team outside Gaddafi Stadium, Pakistan was unable to host any team for nearly a decade.

Zimbabwe was the first to travel to Pakistan in 2015 for a three-match ODI series. After that, Sri Lanka also came in 2017, which opened up the gate for other teams as well.
