Watch: Taijul Islam trapped Virat Kohli LBW for 1 run with a brilliant turn
India is taking on Bangladesh in the first test of the two-match series at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram. The Indian stand-in skipper, KL Rahul, won the toss and chose to bat first. Rohit Sharma, who got injured during the second ODI, was ruled out of the first test.
Thus, Shubman Gill and Rahul came out to open the inning. India had a decent start with both openers adding 41 runs for the first wicket in 13.2 overs. Gill got out after scoring 20 runs off 40 balls.
But India lost three quick wickets in the middle. From 41-0, India got reduced to 48/3, including the big wickets of Rahul and the former Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who got a brilliant delivery from left-arm spinner Taijul Islam.
Virat came to the crease after a brilliant century in the third ODI at the same venue four days earlier. In the absence of Rohit, fans expected Virat to score big runs. But he got LBW for just 1 by Taijul. It was the third ball of the 20th over.
The spinner bowled a ball on the leg stump, and Kohli backed up and tried to hit it straight but missed the line. The ball turned a bit and stuck on his pad, and the impact was between his middle and leg stumps. The on-field umpire immediately ruled it out, and it was a disappointing start to the test series for the former Indian captain.

Although Virat reviewed the decision, the replay confirmed that there was no bat involved and it struck in front of the middle stump. The 33-year-old was beaten by the turn on the ball and got out for a single-digit score.
However, after losing three wickets for just 7 runs in the middle, wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant and vice-captain Cheteshwar Pujara held the innings and put on a 50-run partnership for the fourth wicket. India has gone with three spinners in Ravi Ashwin, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav. Meanwhile, Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Siraj are the two pacers.
