Bengaluru crowd burst into roars of "RCB, RCB" as Rajat Patidar came to bat in Ranji Trophy Final
The final match of the Ranji Trophy 2021-22 between Mumbai and Madhya Pradesh is underway at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. After winning the toss, Mumbai made 374 runs in their first innings, starting with a century of 134 runs, and continued his rich form in the ongoing championship.
But in reply, Madhya Pradesh has done a really good job with centuries from Yash Dubey (133), Shubhman Sharma (116), and Rajat Patidar. The duo of Dubey and Sharma took on the Mumbai bowlers and scored 105 runs in the first session and then carried the momentum further in their innings.
Both batters added 222 runs for the second wicket, and Mohit Avasthi gave Mumbai the all-important breakthrough. The wicket brought Rajat Patidar to the crease. As he came to join Dubey, the crowd at the ground started chanting "RCB, RCB".
Patidar was an integral part of Royal Challengers Banglore in the second half of the IPL 2022. In fact, his century (112*) helped RCB defeat Lucknow Super Giants in the eliminator. Then, he also scored a half-century against Rajasthan Royals in the second qualifier, but RCB lost that match.

The match is heading towards a draw. At the end of the first session of the fourth day, MP were at 475/6 with Rajat Patidar being unbeaten at 120 and Saransh Jain was not out at 23. MP has a lead of 101 runs and it will be interesting to see if they come and score quickly in the second session and declare.
However, Mumbai, which has won the Ranji title 41 times, will have some hard things to do after the lunch break. On the other hand, MP has a great chance to win their 5th title.
