"He has excellent leadership qualities, like MSD"- CSK's batting coach Michael Hussey hints at CSK's next captain

The preparations for the next edition of the Indian Premier League are in full swing. Teams like the Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, who had horrible performances in the last season, will look to do better this time around.

However, former Indian captain MS Dhoni has already confirmed that this might be his last season in the IPL. Thus, it will remain a big question as to who will be the next player to lead the four-time champions, CSK, in the league.

Michael Hussey, CSK's batting coach and a former Australian legend, has hinted at a name that could be the possible candidate for the captaincy after MSD. Hussey, who has worked closely with CSK and MSD, knows about every player on the team.

Hussey discussed the similarities between MSD and CSK star opener Ruturaj Gaikwad in an interview with the Indian Express. He claims that Gaikwad pays close attention to how MS works and plays, and that he learns everything faster than other players.

Furthermore, CSK's batting coach also said that Gaikwad is very calm when it comes to handling the pressure and also reads the game very well, just like MS.

He said, "He is a very good reader of the game like Dhoni  and as I said earlier, he is very observant and I think people are drawn to him because of his nature, character and personality and they like being around him. He has got some excellent leadership qualities."

Ruturaj registered his name in the record books by hitting seven consecutive sixes in an over in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022. He has led Maharastra to the finals of the tournament and is the leading run-scorer. That's why Hussey highlighted the level of competition Indian domestic players have to play for India at the international level.

CSK's batting coach said that even in meetings in CSK, we talk about playing for India with these players, and for that, you need to score tons of runs because it is very hard to stay at the top because of the competition in India.
