India's ICC T20 World Cup 2010 Squad: Where are They Now?

ICC T20 World Cup

India was the first country to win the ICC T20 World Cup. The International Cricket Council (ICC) organized the event for the first time in 2007, with South Africa playing the host. In 2009, England hosted the event, but defending champions India could not qualify for the semifinals.

Even in 2010, the Men in Blue failed to make it to the semifinals when the West Indies hosted the competition. However, there were some big names that played in the competition. With the ICC T20 World Cup set to happen later this year, let's have a look at the Indian team in the 2010 global event and where are the players now.

Top-order batsmen of India's ICC T20 World Cup 2010 Squad: Gautam Gambhir, Rohit Sharma and Murali Vijay

Virender Sehwag was part of the Indian squad in the 2010 T20 WC, but he was withdrawn later. Rohit Sharma, Gautam Gambhir and Murali Vijay formed the top-order. None of them could touch the 100-run mark in the competition. Rohit is now one of the best openers in the world.

Vijay made his T20I debut in the T20 World Cup of 2010, but he could not cement his place. Gambhir has retired from all forms of cricket now and become a politician.

Wicket-keepers: MS Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik

MS Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik were the two wicket-keepers of the Indian T20 World Cup team in 2010. Dhoni was the captain of the team. He scored 85 runs in five matches at an average of 42.50. Dhoni has now retired from international cricket, but he is playing in the IPL.

Dinesh Karthik is still active in the international arena. He had played only two games in the 2010 T20 World Cup. Karthik now works as a commentator for Sky Sports.

All-rounders of India's ICC T20 World Cup 2010 Squad: Yusuf Pathan, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja

4 game-changers were present in India's all-rounders' section for the ICC T20 World Cup in the tournament's third edition. Suresh Raina, who has now retired from international cricket, became the first Indian to record a T20I hundred against South Africa in that competition.

Yuvraj and Yusuf have retired now as well. Both all-rounders could not perform their best in that competition. Ravindra Jadeja scored nine runs and took two wickets in four matches of the 2010 T20 WC. He is now one of the best all-rounders in all formats across the cricket world.

Spin bowlers: Piyush Chawla and Harbhajan Singh

India had a 3D spin bowling attack for the 2010 T20 World Cup. Harbhajan Singh was the off-spinner, Piyush Chawla was the leg-spinner and Ravindra Jadeja bowled left-arm spin.

Chawla and Singh bowled 27 overs in the competition but took only one wicket. Both players are no longer regular members of the Indian T20I team.

Fast bowlers: Praveen Kumar, Umesh Yadav, Vinay Kumar, Zaheer Khan and Ashish Nehra

Not many fans would remember that Ashish Nehra was India's best bowler in the ICC T20 World Cup 2010. He took ten wickets in five matches. None of the other bowlers could even take five wickets. Nehra has retired now and become a cricket expert.

Vinay Kumar, Praveen Kumar and Zaheer Khan have all retired as well. Vinay made his T20I debut in that competition against Sri Lanka. Umesh Yadav did not play a single game in that competition. He is a member of the Indian team in the Test format now.
