IPL 2021: CSK announce replacement for Sam Curran
Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Sam Curran was ruled out of the Indian Premier League 2021 season yesterday because of a back injury. Fans got to know that the left-arm pace-bowling all-rounder from England will also miss the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2021 event.
Now, it has been learned that the Chennai Super Kings have roped in Dominic Drakes from the West Indies as a replacement for Sam Curran. Drakes had been in the United Arab Emirates as a net bowler. Now, he could potentially make his debut for the Chennai Super Kings team in the IPL.
It is pertinent to note that the West Indian star has not represented his national team yet. However, there is a chance he can don the yellow jersey in the IPL soon.
Sam Curran had joined the Chennai Super Kings team last year. He made an instant impact after joining the franchise as Curran emerged as one of the best performers for the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2020. He looked in decent touch this year as well, but his performance was not up to the mark as 2020.
I absolutely loved my time with Chennai Super Kings this season: Sam Curran
Soon after knowing that he was going to miss the upcoming IPL 2021 Playoffs and the ICC T20 World Cup because of his injury, Sam Curran said that he was extremely gutted to miss the global event. In a video posted by the Chennai Super Kings on social media, Curran said he enjoyed his time with CSK.
"I absolutely loved my time with Chennai this season. The boys are doing extremely well. It hasn't really sunk in but I am leaving the team. We are in a fantastic space. The boys are playing really good cricket. I am going to be supporting them from wherever I am in the next few days.”
