Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has followed in the footsteps of their team owner. The Shahrukh, Juhi Chawla owned team stood by the orphans during this festive season. On the eve of Christmas, Purple and Gold brigade has arranged food for 30,000 orphans in City of Joy, Kolkata.

The Kolkata based franchise contacted several orphanages in Kolkata. The Knight camp provided food for 30,000 children of those orphanages. Gifts were also distributed among the children.

Santa Claus sage Knights delegates also played cricket with the orphans. The exception was the purple dress, not the red one you usually see the Santa wearing, as KKR's traditional colour is Purple and Gold.

It has been learned from KKR that their initiative has been going on since the time of Durga Puja. 

Team Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Venky Mysore confirmed that KKR will host meals for orphans at all major festivals of the year, not just Durga Puja or Christmas. 

Knights' Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Venky Mysore said food would be distributed to orphans on days like Christmas, New Year, Durga Puja, Diwali, Navratri and Dussehra. The Meer Foundation has also tied with the KKR franchise in this regard. Together with them, KKR carries out social welfare programs like tree planting.

Kolkata Knight Riders had an rollercoaster of an IPL 2021. The team struggled to deliver in the 1st phase of the IPL 2021 played in India. But they were the complete different outfit in the UAE leg of the tournament reaching the Final of the Gala event before they were handed defeat by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who went on to win their 4th IPL title.
