With the Indian cricket team set to play New Zealand cricket team in a 3 match T20 International series later his month after the T20 World Cup 2021, it is believed that KL Rahul is likely to captain the Indian team in that series.

The Indian cricket team is currently not enjoying the best of times after having lost both of their matches in the T20 World Cup 2021 and is on the brisk of being eliminated from the competition.

However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), is thinking beyond this as right after the T20 World Cup is over, India will play host to New Zealand cricket team in a 3 match T20 International and 2 Test match series.

But according to reports, India is likely to field an almost 2nd string team with some of the first team regular members in the series against New Zealand, due to the fact that the Indian cricket team players have been part of a long bio-bubble, from the World Test Championship Final to T20 World Cup 2021, in between they played against England and in the Indian Premier League as well.

Senior players such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah are all likely to be given rest for the series. Thus, the Indian team selectors are likely to pick to KL Rahul as the captain of the team for the series only.

Earlier, Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli has announced that the T20 World Cup 2021 will be his term as the captain of the Indian cricket team in the T20 International format to manage his workload. Thus, it is believed that Rohit Sharma will be made India's captain, but since he as well, will be given rest, KL Rahul seems like the perfect fit.

India will host New Zealand in 3 T20 Internationals and 2 Test matches throughout the November and December. The 3 T20I's will be played on the 17th, 19th and on the 21st November.
