Rohit Sharma welcomes Rahul Dravid Team India Head Coach

The Indian cricket team vice captain Rohit Sharma has warmly welcomed the head coach of the Indian cricket team, Rahul Dravid.

Former Indian cricketer, a great of his era and a legend of Indian cricket, Rahul Dravid was officially appointed as the head coach of the Indian cricket team yesterday through an official confirmation from BCCI.

The former India captain, famously known as The Wall, has reportedly penned a 2 year deal as the Head Coach of the Indian Team, till the 2023 Cricket World Cup. He replaces the current head coach Ravi Shastri, whose tenure as India head coach ends right after the T20 World Cup 2021.

The current Indian cricket team vice-captain Rohit Sharma, who played a match winning knock of 74 runs off 47 balls against Afghanistan, spoke about the appointment of Rahul Dravid as the head coach of Team India through a virtual press conference.

He stated that the time Rahul Dravid's appointment was confirmed, Team India was playing Afghanistan, so he got to know about it very late. He then congraluted Rahul Dravid and happy to see him in Indian team and is looking forward to working with him.

The rumour has been going on from long that the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, under whom Rahul Dravid has played for Team India, is very interested in bringing Dravid as India's coach. However, Rahul Dravid had stated that he is happy with National Cricket Academy (NCA). But the BCCI managed to convince The Wall of Indian cricket to finally apply for the position, and it was just a matter of wait.

India vs New Zealand Series Details

Now that it is confirm, Rahul Dravid will take charge of the Indian team in the New Zealand home series that will be played right after the T20 World Cup 2021 ends.

The New Zealand series will consists of 3 T20 Internationals beginning from 17th November. The other 2 matches will be played on the 19th and 21st November.

Other than that, 2 Test matches will also be played in Kanpur and Mumbai. The 1st Test will be played from the 25th November till 29th November. That will be followed by the 2nd Test, which will be played from 3rd December till 7th December.
