M Siddharth ruled out of IPL 2021; DC announce replacement

In a heartbreaking development for all Indian Premier League fans, the Delhi Capitals’ spin bowler M Siddharth has been ruled out of IPL 2021. The spin bowler sustained an injury recently, which will not allow him to participate in the remaining matches of IPL 2021. 

In case you didn’t know, Siddharth played a match-winning role for the Tamil Nadu team in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy played earlier this year. He helped his team become the champions. However, he will miss the remaining matches of IPL 2021. 

Delhi Capitals released a statement on M Siddharth’s injury and wrote on their official website:

“Left-arm orthodox bowler Manimaran Siddharth has been ruled out of the VIVO IPL 2021 due to an injury. The 23-year-old incurred a quadriceps strain during training in Dubai. Left-arm medium fast bowler Kulwant Khejroliya has been named as Siddharth's replacement for the remainder of the season.” 

Delhi Capitals’ release mentioned that Kulwant Khejroliya had been with the squad in the bio-bubble as a net bowler. The left-arm fast bowler will now play for the franchise in the second phase of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League.

Kulwant Khejroliya is a left-arm fast bowler of India. He was born in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan. The 29-year-old has been a part of the Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore squads before in the Indian Premier League. 

Khejroliya has played 15 T20 matches in his career so far, scalping 17 wickets at an economy rate of 7.49 runs per over. His best figures in the shortest format of the game are 4/26. 

It will be interesting to see if Khejroliya will get a chance to play for the Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2021. DC will resume their campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad on September 22.
