The second phase of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League got underway yesterday evening in Dubai, with the Chennai Super Kings locking horns with the two-time defending champions of the competition Mumbai Indians. Many expected MI to win the match because they had won the last two matches against CSK.

The Mumbai Indians team started on a good note as well, as their Kiwi fast bowlers Adam Milne and Trent Boult dismissed the quartet of MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Faf du Plessis and Moeen Ali in the first six overs itself.

Another Chennai Super Kings batsman who came out to bat in the powerplay and then returned to the dressing room was the star Indian batsman of the team Ambati Rayudu. Unlike MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Faf du Plessis and Moeen Ali, Rayudu did not lose his wicket but he got retired hurt.

The pace of the two Kiwi fast bowlers seemed too hot to handle. One of the deliveries from Milne hit Rayudu hard on the hand, and then the physio came out and Rayudu returned to the dressing room.

MS Dhoni talked about Ambati Rayudu’s injury in the post-match presentation

As always, the captain of the team, MS Dhoni came out to speak at the post-match presentation of the game after the Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians’ match ended. The Chennai Super Kings won the match by 20 runs and are now the number one team on the points table.

Talking about the injury that Ambati Rayudu suffered, MS Dhoni said:

“Rayudu was smiling, so he hasn’t broken his arm. He has four days now, and that should help him.”

Chennai Super Kings will play their next match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on September 24 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. It will be interesting to see if Rayudu plays that game.
