MS Dhoni reveals the reason why Imran Tahir has not got a game for CSK so far in IPL 2020

South African leg-spinner Imran Tahir is one of the best T20 bowlers in the world right now, but the Chennai Super Kings have not used him in IPL 2020 so far. It is not that the Chennai-based franchise have found another talented overseas leggie or they are on a winning streak. Still, CSK have had no place for Tahir in the playing XI.

It is noteworthy that the Pakistan-based spin bowler had won the Purple Cap award in the previous season of IPL. However, he continues to warm the benches for the Chennai Super Kings. At the toss for the game between CSK and SRH, here’s what MS Dhoni spoke about the team combination:

“One change - Chawla in for Jagadeesan. We thought about him (Tahir) but the combination isn't letting us.”

Surprisingly, the Chennai Super Kings dropped the youngster Jagadeesan despite a decent performance from him on his IPL debut. The Chennai Super Kings had suffered a massive loss in the form of Suresh Raina as the all-rounder made himself unavailable for the entire season.

CSK needs to go for two all-rounders and two top-order batsmen as their four overseas players. Their Indian batsmen have struggled in IPL 2020, but the trio of Mitchell Santner, Josh Hazlewood, and Imran Tahir have missed out on a spot in the playing XI because of that reason.

The IPL mid-season transfer window has opened now. CSK might look to trade Imran Tahir or Mitchell Santner out to other teams and sign a batsman to bolster their batting department. It will be interesting to see if the MS Dhoni-led outfit can turn things around in the 2nd half of the season. Or else, they might exit the tournament soon.

The Chennai Super Kings have always made it to the Top 4 in IPL history, but 2020 could be a different year.
