MS Dhoni reveals why CSK did not give youngsters enough chances

MS Dhoni has not succeeded to take the team into the Top 4 for the first time as the Chennai Super Kings captain. Under his captaincy, the Chennai-based franchise had always qualified for the playoffs, and now also they have a mathematical chance. However, they can maximum score 14 points now, which will probably not be enough to even give them fourth place.
In the last match against the Rajasthan Royals, CSK could score only 125/5 in 20 overs. None of the batsmen could get going in the middle as the 3-time IPL champions found it difficult to even touch the 130-runs mark.
The fans have questioned the team selection of CSK this year. IPL 2019 Purple Cap winner Imran Tahir has not received a single chance to play. While one can understand that the foreign players did not allow CSK to accommodate Tahir, they did not even try R Sai Kishore once or give a long run to N Jagadeesan.
Experienced players like Karn Sharma, Piyush Chawla, and Kedar Jadhav regularly featured in the XI although the team lost. MS Dhoni finally opened up on the team’s decision during the post-match interview as he said:
“Fair enough, this season we weren't really there. Also, there were few chances to the youngsters. Maybe we didn't see the kind of spark that they could've given us to say okay you know push the experienced guys and make space for them. But what this result has done is give those youngsters whatever is left in our league stages. They will get a chance and have no real pressure on them so they can go out and express themselves. And give us the option of looking at the other options in the batting lineup or where they'd like to bat.”
MS Dhoni has clarified that in the remaining four league matches, the young players will get a chance to play for the Chennai Super Kings. Even if CSK finishes in the bottom half of the standings, they will at least have a clear idea of how to use the youngsters in the next season.
Uncapped players like N Jagadeesan, KM Asif, R Sai Kishore, Monu Kumar, and Ruturaj Gaikwad can play freely without any pressure in the last four league games.
