Former England batsman Nick Compton grabbed the headlines by calling the current Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli a ‘foul-mouthed’ player on Twitter. The former English opener, who played against Kohli in 2012, recalled how he abused him during the Test series.

Not many fans would remember that Nick Compton made his Test debut against the Indian cricket team at Ahmedabad in 2012. He played for England until 2016 and has been away from the field for quite some time now.

However, he has earned the attention of the fans with his comments on Virat Kohli. Recently, he made a tweet about Kohli, which he had to delete after the backlash from fans. He participated in an interview with Sportskeeda where he spoke his mind about Kohli.

“I do agree (others do it as well). (James) Anderson’s got his ways. It’s not just Kohli, I am not saying that. But his language is quite excessive. Anderson will do things in a different way. Kohli’s way is to get very abusive. He has got a good array of swear words that he uses. We don’t want to throw stones on this player and that player, otherwise we get into a big argument,” Nick Compton said.

Nick Compton says Virat Kohli should note he is an inspiration to youngsters

In the same interview, Nick Compton added that Virat Kohli should not take the abusive words to showcase his aggressive attitude. Compton believed India had every right to be aggressive and hit back at England but he felt Kohli can do it in a more intelligent way.

He also believed that Virat Kohli can give the best reply to England’s sledging by answering nothing and scoring a century. In the end, Compton mentioned he was an admirer of Virat and what he brings to the game, but he added that Kohli should note he is an inspiration to the upcoming generation of cricketers and behave accordingly.
