"De Villiers only had personal records in IPL"- Gautam Gambhir makes a brainfade statement on AB De Villiers, saying anyone can score in Bengaluru

AB de Villiers needs no introduction to the game of cricket. The former South African star was one of a kind in the game has ever seen. He has performed in all parts of the world and at every level of cricket.

That is why he is known as "Mr. 360" in this game. His numbers in the most lucrative league in the world are also brilliant. And it will not be a wrong statement to say that he is a legend in the Indian Premier League. However, there is someone who feels that De Villiers played for his personal records in the IPL.

Former captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders, Gautam Gambhir, who led them to IPL glory twice in 2012 and 2014, feels that the former RCB star scored runs at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium (home ground of RCB) in Bengaluru, which was easier than other venues.

Furthermore, Gambhir also made a weird statement and said that anyone can score runs in Bengaluru. The upcoming IPL season is all set to start on March 31 with a game between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings. Just ahead of the start of the season, in a chat show on Star Sports, Gambhir was asked to choose the best batter between CSK's Suresh Raina and RCB's AB de Villiers.

The former KKR captain denied rating De Villiers as an IPL legend and said Raina is way ahead of him. He said, "AB de Villiers only had personal records in the IPL. Anybody could have scored runs in Chinnaswamy stadium." His statement raised many eyebrows.

Raina was part of 200 IPL innings, scoring 5528 runs at 32.51 and a strike rate of 136.73, including one century and 39 half-centuries with a high score of 100 not out. On the other hand, De Villiers played 170 innings and made 562 runs at an average of 39.70 and a strike rate of 151.68, with a best of 133 not out, including three centuries and 40 fifties.
