"People who genuinely contribute two ways"- Harsha Bhogle names 2 players India must groom for future

Famous Indian cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle has opined that the Indian cricket team should consider giving more chances to players like Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur because they contribute two ways to the team’s success.

Since Hardik Pandya got injured, there has been an imbalance in the Indian cricket team. He bowled ten overs of pace, fielded well and also batted excellently for the team. In his absence, the likes of Venkatesh Iyer, Shivam Dube and Vijay Shankar could not play the all-rounder’s role well.

However, two players who have always done well as all-rounders but have not received consistent chances to play as all-rounders are Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar. While the team management now considers Thakur as an all-rounder, Chahar usually plays as a specialist bowler only.

But in the last two ODI series of the Indian cricket team, Deepak Chahar has done a fantastic job in the batting department. He scored a match-winning fifty against the Sri Lankan cricket team and then followed it up with a quickfire half-ton against the South African cricket team.

Fans should note that both innings came in matches outside India. Thus, the Indian cricket team should consider playing both Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar as all-rounders in the playing XI.

Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur are the kind of players India need to be looking for: Harsha Bhogle

In a recent post on Twitter, Harsha Bhogle wrote about the type of players the Indian cricket team needs to look for. He took the names of Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur and wrote on Twitter:

Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur are the kind of players India need to be looking for. People who genuinely contribute two ways.

Most fans agree with Harsha’s statement as the tweet has already received more than 20,000 likes.
