Royal Challengers Bangalore appoint Sanjay Bangar as Head Coach, Mike Hesson to continue as DOC
As the new season of the Indian Premier League approaches us, teams are now busy retaining players before the IPL Mega Auction that is likely to be held in January. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has today announced the signing of Sanjay Bangar as their Head Coach for the next 2 years.

Sanjay Bangar has been roped in by the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise on a two year contract and will be replacing the former Head Coach Simon Katich, who made himself unavailable for the UAE of the IPL 2021, citing personal reasons.
Sanjay Bangar is a former India international cricketer having represented India in 12 Test matches and 15 One Day International matches.
Sanjay Bangar has also worked for the Indian cricket team is various roles, as a batting coach or as a Interim Head Coach. He was snapped up by the Royal Challengers Bangalore earlier this year as a batting coach before the commencement of the IPL 2021.
RCB's Director of Cricket, Mike Hesson stated after the appointment that since the the IPL 2021 had ended, they were in the process to find the next Head Coach for RCB.
He further added that they have interviewed a number of candidates ever since then but Sanjay Bangar was the standout of them all, and even though he is a batting coach, Hesson believes that he has more expertise than that only.
Sanjay Bangar, at first thanked the RCB board for having a faith in him and then confirmed that the work has already begun about the upcoming IPL Mega Auction.
RCB in IPL 2021
Royal Challengers Bangalore reached the Eliminator of the Indian Premier League 2021, but was eliminated by the evnetual finalist Kolkata Knight Riders.
RCB team management has a lot of works to do for sure before the IPL Mega Auction. The franchise was established in 2008, to play in the inaugural edition of the IPL but, ever since then, they have never won the IPL a single time.
Thus building a strong team is key. But along with that, they have to find a new captain for the team as well. RCB's captain Virat Kohli has stepped down as the captain of the team, thus they will have to look for a captain as well in the auction.
