The God of Cricket, the Great Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar congratulated Shreyas Iyer for scoring a hundred on his debut Test match against New Zealand.

Indian cricket team is currently playing the first match of the 2 match Test series against New Zealand in Kanpur from 25th of November onwards.

Indian cricket team, in absence of many big names, gave Shreyas Iyer the opportunity to make his Test cricket debut. Iyer came into the match at a moment when India was struggling at 106 for the loss of 3 wickets, with only Shubman Gill scoring the 50.

Iyer was exceptional throughout the Day 1 as he ended the day 1 with 75 runs on the board beside his name. The Mumbai born cricketer continued his exceptional form from last day to the 2nd Day of the match as he completed his century. However, he was dismissed soon after by Tim Southee.

Many cricket experts and former Indian cricketer took to the social media to congratulate Shreyas Iyer for this feat, including the God of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar.

Sachin Tendulkar took to his Twitter handle to send out congratulatory wish for Shreyas Iyer. Sachin Tendulkar's tweet reads, "Great start to your Test career, @ShreyasIyer15. Nice to see you as a part of #TeamIndia in ‘whites’. Good luck!"

India vs New Zealand 1st Test

Talking about the match, at the end of Day 2's play, New Zealand found themselves trailing India by 216 runs, as they have scored 129 runs, crucially without losing any wicket.

Winning the toss, Ajinkya Rahane asked New Zealand to bowl first. India lost Mayank Agarwal early, however, Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara stiched together a partnership with the former scoring a fifty. 

Iyer and Ravindra Jadeja added an all important 121 runs partnership for the 6th wicket. Lower down the order, Ravichandran Ashwin also added crucial 38 runs as India put 345 runs on the board.

In response, New Zealand has got off to a great start as the Kiwis have scored 129 runs without losing any wickets. Tom Latham and Will Young have both scored 50 and 75 runs respectively.
