Salary of Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah revealed after promotion in leadership group

The Indian cricket team’s leadership group has undergone many changes in recent times. Just before the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, Virat Kohli had announced by a social media post that he would step down as the T20I skipper after the mega event.

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and chief selector Chetan Sharma have stated in their interviews that they urged Virat to continue as the captain. Meanwhile, Virat said in his press conference that he was never asked to reconsider his call.

Irrespective of what the truth is, the fact is that Rohit Sharma is now the permanent ODI and T20I captain of the Indian cricket team. He led the Men in Blue in the home T20I series against New Zealand and led the team to a 3-0 win.

Unfortunately, just before the South African tour, The Hitman picked up a hamstring injury, which ruled him out of the ICC World Test Championship series and the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League series against the Proteas.

In his absence, KL Rahul was named the new vice-captain of the Test team, while Jasprit Bumrah became the vice-captain of the ODI team as Rahul was named the skipper of the ODI team.

How much does new ODI and T20I captain of India Rohit Sharma earn?

Some fans may feel that the salaries of Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah will increase because of the added responsibilities in the Indian team, but the same is not true.

According to a report by DNA, the salaries of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah will be INR 7 crore per year because they had signed a central contract from the BCCI prior to the new season.

If there needs to be any change in their salaries, the BCCI shall inform about it before the new season.
