Sanju Samson reacts to criticism of not giving single to Chris Morris

In match 7 of the Indian Premier League, Sanju Samson's Rajasthan Royals defeated Rishabh Pant's Delhi Capitals by three wickets.

It was Rajasthan Royals' 2nd match of the tournament this season after suffering a loss to the Punjab Kings in their first match of the season. Chasing a target of 148, Rajasthan Royals scored 150 in 19.4 overs. Chris Morris turned out to be the hero with the bat for Rajasthan Royals; he scored a quickfire 36 runs off 18 bats in which he hit four sixes.

After the match, fans of the Rajasthan Royals started to question Rajasthan Royals' captain Sanju Samson's decision not to take a single and rotate the strike with Chris Morris in their previous match against Punjab Kings.

So what happened is, in Rajasthan Royals match against Punjab Kings, Rajasthan needed five runs in 2 balls with Sanju Samson, who had scored a century in that match, was on strike with Chris Morris at the non-striker's end. On the penultimate ball, Sanju Samson refused to take a single as he believed that he was a better person to finish the match. With now five requiring from 1 ball, Sanju Samson got out, and Rajasthan lost the game by four runs.

And after yesterday's match, in which Morris played a significant role in helping the team walk out victorious, fans started to question Samson's decision of not taking a single in the match against Punjab Kings.

In reply to the criticism, Rajasthan Royals' captain Sanju Samson stated in the post-match interview, "Always sit back and review my game. If I play that match again 100 times I would not take the single."

Talking about Rajasthan's match against Delhi Capitals, after was forced to bat first, Delhi Capitals, with the help of captain Rishabh Pant's brilliant 51, put 147 on the board, and in reply, it was David Miller (62 runs of 43 balls), and then a quick cameo from Chris Morris helped chase it down in 19.4 overs.

With this win, Rajasthan Royals now find themselves in 5th position, just behind Delhi Capitals. Rajasthan's next match will be against Chennai Super Kings on Monday, while Delhi Capitals will face Punjab Kings on Sunday.
