The IPL 2022 Mega Auction is still one month away, but the reports have claimed that the IPL franchises have made some big decisions before the mega event. One of the biggest stories to emerge yesterday was the clearance of the Ahmedabad-based franchise in the IPL 2022 season.

CVC Capitals group are the owners of the Ahmedabad-based franchise in the Indian Premier League. According to reports, they have finalized three members for their coaching staff. 2011 World Cup winner Ashish Nehra will be the head coach of the team, while the coach of the Indian cricket team in the 2011 Cricket World Cup Gary Kirsten will be the mentor.

Vikram Solanki, who played for England in the ICC T20 World Cup 2007, will be the director of the Ahmedabad-based IPL franchise. On top of that, reports have emerged claiming that the franchise is interested in roping in the star-studded trio of Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan and Ishan Kishan as their three draft picks before the 2022 season.

Many fans would know that the two new franchises have been allowed to pick three players each in the pre-season draft. Thus, it seems that KL Rahul will be the captain of the Lucknow-based franchise, and his close friend Hardik Pandya will lead the Ahmedabad-based franchise.

Shreyas Iyer has not joined Lucknow or Ahmedabad franchise

Former Delhi Capitals skipper Shreyas Iyer was also available in the draft. However, none of the two new franchises have shown interest in his services, if reports are to be believed.

Thus it is likely that Iyer will be a part of the IPL Mega Auction 2022. As per Times of India, Kolkata Knight Riders are interested in signing Iyer for the new season and electing him as their new captain. Fans should note KKR reached IPL 2021 final under Eoin Morgan but he has been released.
