"Spin to win" - Brad Hogg names the Best Bowler of 2021

Brad Hogg names Ravichandran Ashwin as Best Bowler of 2021

Former Australian cricketer and now a an expert for various broadcasting channels, Brad Hogg has named India's spin bowling all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin as the Best Bowler in 2021.

Ravichandran Ashwin has been by the far the best bowler for India in 2021, whether it is the Test cricket or the limited overs cricket.

The Tamil Nadu cricketer ended the year 2021 as the leading wicket-taker in Test cricket, even though he missed out the entire summer series against England, and that shows the quality of the bowler.

The former Australian cricketer and a spin bowler himself, Brad Hogg picked the Indian bowler as the best bowler in 2021, in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel.

He said in the video that spin is the way to win and he is the number one bowler. He also picked Pakistani duo Shaheen Shah Afridi and Hasan Ali as the 2nd and 3rd choice players respectively.

He picked England's Test skipper Joe Root as the best batsman of 2021. Root had a fantastic year overall, where the England batsman ended the year 2021 as the leading run scorer in Test cricket with 1708 runs from 29 innings.

Ravichandran Ashwin's Record

Meanwhile, talking about Ravichandran Ashwin, the Indian spin bowler ended the year 2021 with a staggering record of 63 wickets across Test and T20I format, from a total of 14 matches across the format.

His record could have been even better if he would have played the 4 Test matches against England in the summer, where he was made to sit in the dugout. He didn't turn up for the Indian ODI team this year and last played a One Day International (ODI) match in the year 2017.

South Africa vs India ODI Series

But, looks like wait could be coming to an end as the prolific bowler has been called up to the Indian ODI team for the upcoming 3 match One Day International series against South Africa, starting 19th January January, followed by the remaining 2 matches on the 21st and 23rd January.

The remaining 3rd Test match between India and South Africa will be played from the 11th of January, with the series on 1-1 after South Africa come back to win the 2nd Test after losing the first.
