Almost every fan of the Sunrisers Hyderabad team was disappointed yesterday when the team management of the Orange Army decided to leave their former captain David Warner out of the playing XI for the match against the Rajasthan Royals.

Warner is the only cricketer to have won the Orange Cap three times in the IPL. The left-handed batter is considered by many as the heartbeat of the Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, when the team was playing against the Rajasthan Royals last night, Warner was in the team hotel, watching the match on his TV.

In the post-match press conference, the coach of the Sunrisers Hyderabad team Trevor Bayliss was asked about David Warner’s future at SRH. To that he replied:

"Look that certainly has not been discussed," Bayliss said. "It is something that… this is the last year before a major auction. Those decisions will be made further down the line. He has been a great contributor to Hyderabad Sunrisers for a number for a number of years now. He is very well respected with the amount of runs he has scored. I am sure he has got a lot more runs in him yet in the IPL."

Why did Sunrisers Hyderabad drop David Warner from their team?

The main reason why David Warner lost his place in the playing XI was his poor form with the bat. Also, since he is an overseas player, the team management decided to drop him and use that slot for Jason Roy, who had been warming the benches for quite some time.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad still have a chance of qualifying for the IPL 2021 playoffs. It will be exciting to see if SRH can pull off victories in their remaining matches, and then the other results of the tournament go in their way, taking them to the Top 4.
