Sunil Gavaskar India vs Australia Test Series 2020-2021

Former Indian cricketer and a legend in himself, Sunil Gavaskar has recalled India Test series victory over the mighty Australia in the 2020-2021 Border-Gavaskar Trophy as India's "Greatest Win" ever.

The Indian team went Australia with a young squad in terms of experience, as they were hit injuries going into the series. But, even after all this, the team still managed to win the 4 match series by 2 wins to 1 margin.

The Indian cricket team's legend Sunil Gavaskar has termed this as the "Golden Chapter" in Indian cricket's history.

Vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane lead the team for the entire series, except for the 1st Test. Virat Kohli captained the team in the first match, but as discussed with the BCCI earlier, he left the team to be with his wife as they were expecting their first child.

The series kicked-off with the hosts outplaying the Indian team in the Day/Night Test match, the first match of the series, in Adelaide. India scripted a solid comeback, winning the 2nd match in Melbourne after an all-round performance from the Team.

Hanuma Vihari and Ravichandran Ashwin fought hard in the 3rd Test match to somehow managed to draw the match.

But then came, probably one of the biggest victory ever for the Indian cricket team. The Indian team breached the fortress of Gabba  and recorded stunning victory to also win the series.

To mark this moment, the Sony Sports Network have produced a documentary named 'Down Underdogs - India's Greatest Comeback' that will premiere on the 14th of January, on Friday.

Sunil Gavaskar joined the channel before the premiere and spoke about the series. He said that India's win Australia last year will go down as one of the greatest wins in Indian cricket's history.

He continued that the team showed tremendous determination to script a comeback from getting all out for India's lowest total of 36 in the Adelaide Test. He credited the captain Ajinkya Rahane, coach Ravi Shastri and his support for this special moment.

He further added that he was privileged to have witnessed the match, seeing a new Golden Chapter in Indian Cricket's history.

India vs South Africa 3rd Test 2022

The Indian might want to repeat that special moment in the ongoing 3rd Test against South Africa, with the tied on 1-1, a win on the third match would mark a historic first ever Test series win in South Africa.
