Suryakumar's wife Devisha Shetty looks for a third umpire in the 4th T20I
The Indian cricket team leveled the series against England with a brilliant performance in the 4th T20I at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Suryakumar Yadav scored a half-century in his first-ever international inning, while Shreyas Iyer supported him well with a quickfire 37.
Jofra Archer scalped four wickets for the visitors. However, the home team still managed a 185-run total in their 20 overs. In reply, Ben Stokes almost took the English team over the line. However, Shardul Thakur’s double strike turned the match in Team India’s favor. Ultimately, the Men in Blue won the game by eight runs.
There were many talking points from the fourth T20I between India and England. One of the them was the umpiring standard witnessed in the game. Many fans questioned whether the third umpire’s decisions were fair enough because Dawid Malan had seemingly dropped Suryakumar Yadav’s catch off Sam Curran’s bowling.
The on-field umpires thought it was out. They went to the third umpire, giving the soft signal as ‘Out.’ Since there was no conclusive evidence with the third umpire to overturn the decision, he declared Suryakumar Yadav out.
This decision led to a massive debate on Twitter. Many fans felt Malan had not taken the catch properly, and the batsman should have got the benefit of doubt. But because the soft signal was out, even the third umpire had to go with the on-field officials because he could not spot the ball being hit on the ground.
Suryakumar Yadav’s wife Devisha Shetty was in the stands watching the match. Hardik Pandya’s wife Natasa Stankovic was also present there. Shetty tried to watch the match with a binocular. Natasa clicked her photo then and put it on her Instagram story, captioning it “Devisha Shetty looking for a third umpire.”
