Punjab Kings to sack Anil Kumble from Head Coach, Eoin Morgan is in contention

The next edition of the Indian Premier League is still 7-8 months away from now. But all the ten franchises are making sure that nothing is left behind and they can move ahead with new strategies, new players, and net performances. A few teams will look to sign some new players in the coming season.

On the other hand, a few teams are looking to trade some of their existing players for new ones. However, as per the latest developments, it is learnt that the Punjab Kings, who have not performed as per their potential, are looking to sack their head coach, Anil Kumble.

Notably, the tenure of the former Indian captain will end in September 2020 and he has been with the team for the last three seasons, but it hasn't helped the team's performance as PBKS hasn't made it to the top four since 2014. They are also among the teams that have never won the IPL.

Some media reports also suggest that former England skipper Eoin Morgan could replace Kumble as the head coach of the team. Notably, Morgan announced his retirement from international cricket last month. However, he is still playing the domestic tournaments and is currently playing in "The Hundred."

The second name that is coming is the former England world-cup winning coach, Trevor Bayliss. The report confirms that Punjab Kings are looking for a fresh start in the IPL 2023 with a new coach as the think-tank is not happy with the performance of the team under the coaching of Anil Kumble.

A report from Cricbuzz confirmed, "The Punjab Kings are not happy with Anil Kumble's style of coaching. It is learnt that their representatives have approached the likes of Eoin Morgan, Trevor Bayliss and one former India coach. Eventually, one of them may get the posting. The decision is expected to come in a week’s time."

Morgan, who totally changed the mindset of the England team and led them successfully in the 2019 World Cup, made the English team a dominating team in the white-ball format. He also led the KKR in the 2020 finals. On the other hand, Bayliss has won two IPL championships when he was the coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders.
