"That's not my decision"- Faf du Plessis responds to a fan who wants him to be retained by CSK
The reverse countdown to IPL 2022 Mega Auction retention list has begun. The BCCI has set a deadline of November 30 for the existing franchises to declare their respective lists of players retained and released ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction.
Defending champions Chennai Super Kings have not announced their lists yet. But as per reports, the Chennai-based franchise have already decided the top contenders for the four spots.
The first name is of course captain MS Dhoni and there are two more Indian names on the reported list, they are Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ravindra Jadeja. The overseas player has not been finalized yet, but as per the reports, it will probably be Moeen Ali or Sam Curran.
Chennai Super Kings’ most successful overseas batter Faf du Plessis is reportedly not in contention to be retained, which is a surprise because in the previous edition of the Indian Premier League, du Plessis was the second-highest run-scorer among all batters.
Recently, a fan sent an emotional message to Faf du Plessis on Twitter and told him that he wants to see the South African star playing in the Indian Premier League for the Chennai Super Kings once again.
Faf du Plessis surprisingly replied to that fan
Interestingly, Faf du Plessis decided to give a reply to that fan via DM on Twitter. Here’s what the former South African cricket team captain replied: “Hahaha that’s not my decision. I also hope I get back there.”

Faf du Plessis has played in all IPL seasons with MS Dhoni only. In 2016 and 2017, when the Chennai Super Kings received a temporary suspension, du Plessis turned up for Rising Pune Supergiant with Dhoni. Also, he has played all other seasons for CSK. Thus, he has a very close attachment with both Chennai and captain Dhoni.
